CF-1 Pin-Save™ Backbox Cooling Fan The Pin-Save™ CF-1 Backbox Cooling Fan is for improving circulation and cooling the electronics in pinball machine backboxes. Power dissipation from the computer components, power supplies and lighting increases heat load on the electronics in pinball machine backboxes. Everyone knows to replace # 44 lamps with #47 lamps to reduce heat but that is not enough. The effects of heat are reduced life on the semiconductors and electrolytic capacitors on the circuit boards and deterioration of translites. These machines were not designed to last forever, but the new trend in buying them for home use means the life expectancy needs to be extended. Exact replacement components in pinball machines are becoming difficult to find due to obsolescence not to speak of the cost and inconvenience of having to repair a circuit board. Addition of a simple cooling fan can add years to the life of these components and machines. The CF-1 was designed specifically for pinball machines and attaches to the rear of the backbox and comes with mounting hardware and instructions for quick and easy installation. Air is drawn up through the base cabinet and out the hottest part of the backbox for whole machine cooling. The CF-1 operates from the 12volt DC supply available in the backbox and has thermal control to speed the fan up as temperature rises.
