SV-1 Electronic Noise Reduction Kit
for SEGA and Stern games with Fluorescent Lighting
The recent series of games manufactured by Sega and Stern have some background electrical noise (hum) that is noticeable when the games are
used in a home environment. The noise is
pertabated by the analog amplifier sections of the soundboard. The hum can be eliminated or reduced significantly with installation of either of two of our kits. Choice
number one is to
simply install two shielded volume controls that come in the SV-1 kit. The controls clip onto resistors on the soundboard and allow reducing the gain of the analog amplifiers until the hum is
not objectionable. There is still ample volume for the game in the home environment. Choice number two is to install a Pinball Pro™ SW-4V Sub-woofer kit in the game. The Sub-woofer
network absorbs the hum from the base cabinet amplifier and a shielded volume control is included for the backbox amplifier. The benefit with this solution is greatly enhanced sound
performance as well as hum
reduction. With either kit, the volume control addition requires NO SOLDERING or permanent modification to the soundboard.
